The book is the outcome of a collaborative reasearch within the migration care Insititutions in Asia Pacific, highlithing the impact of labor migration on families in Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam etc.
Each institution adopted their own methods ; Some advertised the call for paper publicly, and awarded the winner, while the others appointed researchers either inhouse or in collaboration with other organizations or individuals.
